One Kilburn Community Fund winner announcement!

Over the last few months, we have been inviting local people to vote for their favourite community-led project that seeks to bring exciting, impactful activities to Kilburn.

1,248 votes were submitted online and during the in-person voting sessions across Kilburn. Following that voting process, we are thrilled to announce that Electronic Sheep’s project Kilburn in Motion has won! You can read more about the winning project here.

One Kilburn would also like to congratulate all of the community organisations and groups that shared ideas through the One Kilburn Community Fund. We had over 20 brilliant proposals focused on many themes, including markets, cultural events, Kilburn's rich history, community celebration, greening, wellbeing and sustainability. The hard work and commitment displayed by the community - and especially the One Kilburn partners that developed the fund - reflects a collective desire to make Kilburn a greener, more joyful, enjoyable, and supportive place for everyone.

We look forward to working with and supporting Kilburn in Motion and future upcoming community-led projects. If you are inspired to get involved and/or support the delivery of Kilburn in Motion, or any of the projects put forward to public vote, please reach out.

One Kilburn is an alliance made up of local citizens, organisations, businesses and council officers that seeks to foster dialogue and collaboration to ensure ideas and decisions on the future of Kilburn originate from and are made collectively by the community. It's a partnership where everyone has a role to play.

Funding was secured by Camden Council. If you have any questions or are interested in getting involved, please contact us at onekilburn@camden.gov.uk

Kilburn toilets open to all

Written by Michael Stuart, Kilburn Older Voices Exchange (KOVE)

16 community-minded businesses on Kilburn High Road are in a new leafletoffering their loos to customers and non-customers alike. We thank each of these businesses. This practical improvement particularly benefits the 20% of people who don’t go out as often as they’d like because they need a loo.

Volunteers organised by KOVE asked 60 cafes, pubs etc. 90% of businesses are happy for anyone to use their loos, even if not on the leaflet due to fears of anti-social behavior.

KOVE followed up with its annual World Toilet Day protest, a procession down the High Road with 30 people holding placards made in art workshops calling for further improvements, including a toilet for Grange Park. KOVE and others will continue to raise the human rights and public health issue of access to toilets, particularly as Camden is currently working on its Toilet Strategy.

Printed leaflets are available at venues including Kilburn Library Centre, some One Kilburn meetings or from Michael.Stuart6@gmail.com.

One Kilburn event on 23rd January

We’re bringing together people to create, shape and make positive change happen in Kilburn, and we’re looking for some new people to get involved and share their perspectives. If you are passionate about shaping your local area, have a project idea to make it an even better place or want to meet likeminded people, then come along to the One Kilburn: Imagining the future of Kilburn event on 23rd January, 6pm – 9pm at the Kiln Theatre.
